Our most valuable resource for learning is within our elders, but not many are respected teachers. The life they led often discredited as unevolved in today’s standards. So instead of looking to them for wisdom we arm ourselves with information at our fingertips then go forth like toddlers driving SUVs, unprepared to steer the future when their organic knowledge could help us define what’s important. Their time; pre-silicon where eye contact, in-person conversation, and a hand shake were king carries the echo of something we’ve lost. I honor their perspective by listening to their stories. I take from them what we cannot afford to loose; our humanity.
